    Awards, Projects, and Teaching

This is me receiving the Slate Award for Best Editor (Modern Life) at the California Independent Film Festival. Martin Landau received a Lifetime Achievement Award and was also a presenter. He's a really great guy. Also, tall. Me and Marty, yo. I've been privileged to work with some great people on some outstanding projects lately...here are a few of them, and a couple of my own films that have done well in the world.

Tom Jonesing is the world's most powerful Tom Jones band. Here's the latest promo I made for them, a 5 minute mini rockumentary that's a lot of fun. For more video (my current reel), please check the "What" page.

Modern Life has now won several awards, including the San Francisco Int'l Film Festival's Golden Gate Award, and is featured on iFilm and RES compilations on DVD of their favorite short films.

Fine Dining took top honors for best short film at the Moondance Film Festival, and has also been a festival selection (those things with the wreaths) at the Mill Valley Film Festival, and others.

The Real Dirt on Farmer John This film by Taggart Siegel about farmer John Peterson has been pretty much a huge hit. I post supervised the Spanish version.

The Fall of Fujimori I was post-production supervisor on this film by Ellen Perry. My role was to oversee the process of taking a DV movie to HD for festival screening and distribution. This is a lot more complicated than a straight transfer, boy howdee.

Return to Dak To   Christopher Upham’s moving portrait of 5 soldiers returning to the places where they fought and their friends died in Vietnam, 30 years after. I edited a rough cut of this 60 minute epic journey.

Singing the Milky Way  I did the final edit and online of this film by David Betz about Australian aboriginal artists. It's an in-depth portrait of a vanishing ancient culture and their unique mythology, focusing on artist Paddie Sims, the last of his kind.

The Ambrosia of Immortality Shadowmaster Larry Reed’s production incorporates Balinese puppetry and live actors to create shadow theater on a massive scale. I edited both the performance and behind the scenes videos for Shadowlight’s new DVD and theatrical screenings.

The Bridge So Far I made the titles on this revealing doc about the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge, by David L. Brown.

Digital Media Academy I've been teaching for this fine organization for four years, at Stanford and other campuses around the country. I teach 5 day intensive workshops about editing with Final Cut Pro, as well as courses about documentary production and digital storytelling, based on stuff from my new book.
